Brother Roy "Pete" Bleckert receives Hiram Award
The Hiram Award is given to a Brother Mason in recognition of service to the fraternity or mankind in general. It is intended for a Brother who, year after year, displays his devotion without receiving special recognition or special honor. Every Lodge has many such members. They are the living cement that binds our fraternity into a Brotherhood. You can find them at labor in kitchens, the coaching rooms, the committees, his church and community helping his fellowman, anywhere a true and steady Hand of assistance is needed. Below is a list of those brothers so honored by this Lodge for their dedicated service to our Lodge, Masonry in general and mankind. This month we honor one more such outstanding men, our own Roy "Pete" Bleckert.

Brother Barratt receives replacement apron lost in fire
While out working in the Yucca Valley area, a Brother “Master Mason”, John Cover Spear, happened to come across a man who noticed his Masonic rings. He commented on them and told the Brother that he too was a Mason and that he had lost everything in the fires that swept through the countryside last year. “It even melted my rings” he exclaimed. This got the Brother from our lodge thinking about how terrible this would be if it were to happen to him or any of his lodge’s Brothers. He took this thought into our stated meeting on Thursday night and suggested to the other Brothers in the lodge, that they reach forth and replace the lambskin apron which was also tragically lost in the flames. With a unanimous approval, the deed was done. A few days later Brother Barratt receive a knock at his door in the middle of the day, by not only the Brother that had made the suggestion but by more than a half dozen “Master Masons” as well. “I will remember this day for along time” Brother Barratt told the motley group, standing there in his kitchen. “I’m too old togo to lodge” he said, “but it’s nice to see that the lodge is not too old to cometo me”! Brother John Dunlap Barratt was raised a Master Mason back in May 18th of 1968.
