February 2012

From The East

Okay, The Installation is over and now the hard work begins. I would like thank everyone who came out for our ceremony, and especially my Installing Team, W. Larson, W. Macauley and W. Crosby. If you missed it, it was wonderful and we had a Grand Feast afterwards. Thanks go out to all who helped clean up afterwards. This place is never a one man show.

We do have some upcoming degrees and will require all hands on deck for the coming Month of February . Our new officers are coming along nicely, but could use some support in becoming more profecient at ritual work. I look forward to seeing at our next practice, degree, stated meeting, etc, etc, etc.

It looks like our Junior Warden has a Sweetheart of Dinner planned for February. I hope the guys know how to cook to make sure the ladies have at least one night off. Do your best and show us your domestic half by bringing something special. I notice I have a salad to prepare. Well someone has to do it!

    B. Provost is working on bringing in a group of students for our PotLuck in March. These are the students we helped with Spanish/English dictionaries last year. This should dovetail nicely with our Education program in March. Plan now so we can have a good showing in March.

Steve Metheny

Master

From the West

I just want to thank everyone for such a good turnout to the annual installation of officers. Congratulations once again to Wor. Metheny, I'm sure he will do a great job this year. It's going to be a great year as we look toward bringing in some new candidates. The ritual work is getting better each week so congratulations to all the officers for their hard work, it is really starting to pay off. Officers please be sure to review the calender so you know when and where the schools of instruction are. It is important that we all make it there because we are often the smallest group when some of our officers don't show up. If you can't make it be sure to let the inspector know why ahead of time. I will keep it short this month, just looking forward to seeing all of you at the stated meeting. From the South

Again, I would like to thank all of the brethren of American River Lodge for entrusting me with the duties of Junior Warden this year. It is an honor to hold this position in such a close-knit Lodge. 2012 has started off on a good note with a couple of new Entered Apprentices getting ready for their 2nd degree to come soon.

What an afternoon we had at the Annual Installation of Officers this past month. Worshipful Metheny was installed, for the last time, as our fearless leader, and I know he will work diligently in this, his final year, as our Worshipful Master. And I speak for all of the Lodge, I'm sure, when I say that we are excited and pleased to have such a leader. Did I mention that it is his last year? I'm sure he will, as well.

We have a lot of work to do in getting our candidates prepared to take the next steps in becoming Master Masons, and I hope to see full participation in as many practices as possible this year. We have amazing coaching, but they could always use the help when it comes to the one-on-one work with the brothers that are learning their new positions in the Lodge. So, please, even if you are not an officer, or part of the rituals of the degree work, we beg you to show your beautiful faces at some practices, and help on the sideleines with those that could use the repetition in rod work and memorization, rather than having them observe all the rest of us going through the motions. If you need help getting to the Lodge, we will ALWAYS find a ride for you. Please come out and help us grow.
