Oak Plains Lodge was a dream of two men, Robert L. Wade
and Richard W. Ehlers. It started with the forming of a
Sojourners Club. That was on March 25, 1954.
One of those Brothers was George Primrose. He told the
club member that the area east of the Sacramento river
north to Marysville had been known as oak plains and
suggest it for the name. So it became THE OAK PLAINS
SOJOURNERS CLUB.
Later that summer Brother George told the club that he
would provide the property were our Temple stands today.
March 15, 1955 Robert L. Wade was elected Master of the
new lodge to be. After a lot of trials and hardships the
Club became Oak Plains Lodge U. D. on July 19, 1958.
They held there stated meeting two days later and read
six petitions. The Lodge received its charter on
December 20, 1958 along with the Number 789.
On March 8, 1963 there was a ground breaking ceremony.
The corner-stone laid on April 6, 1963. Just a short six
month after the ground breaking Oak Plains Lodge held
it's Stated meeting in the new Temple in August 1963.
Nineteen years later the Grand Master Robert O. West and
his Officers conducted a Mortgage Burning Ceremony.
More of the History of Oak Plains Lodge to follow.
