Home Lodge #721

On February 6, 2008, Home Lodge had reason to celebrate!  One of our own, Brother David I. Karp, received the Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award and Home Lodge had the honor of hosting the presentation of this award.

"The Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award is a national recognition approved by the Boy Scouts of America, administered by the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, and promoted by the Grand Lodges of Masons in the United States .  The purpose of the award is to recognize service by a member of the Masonic Fraternity to youth through the program of the Boy Scouts of America  More information about the award, and the person for whom it is named, is available from the website of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, at http://www.pagrandlodge.org/pyf/pgm/scouter/
Home Masonic Lodge has chosen Cub Scouting as a resource for youth development for First to Fifth Graders and is the Chartered Organization for Cub Scout Pack 357, in reorganization at this time.  In Western Los Angeles County Council, Home Lodge is the first Masonic Lodge, to my knowledge, to sponsor a Scout unit.  The Cub Scout Pack is being reorganized through the Scoutreach Division of the Council to serve Latino/Hispanic youth in the Lodge's locale, Van Nuys , California
