This is the last article I will be writing as Master and I do it with some sadness. We lost one of our members and an officer I appointed to my line. Brother Earl Gault passed to the Celestial Lodge above on November 23, 2007. I know he will be missed.
At our November Stated Meeting we held the annual election of officers. Jim Gable was elected Master, Robert Rowan Senior Warden, Bill Malmstrom Junior Warden, Richard Rosenberg Secretary and Ernie Castillo Treasurer. Congrats to the new officers of 2008.
The above paragraph shows that I am back in the line, but it is for one year only. Brother Bobbie Byers will be Master of Day Light Lodge this year and will join our line as Senior Warden in 2009 (I’m just keeping his chair warm for him).
It is said that the best laid plans of mice and men oft go astray. Such is my case. Two of the activities that I had hoped to do seemed never to fit into the schedule. One was a visitation and the other was a wine tasting tour. If Jim could fit one or the other into his year I would chair it for him.
I feel that we had a good year. The elevator project got started, and the competition is now around the first of February. We did two third degrees, the first one by the officers in advanced stations a month after being installed while I was in the hospital getting a new knee, We did a first and a second and soon we will do a third. At our December Stated meeting we will read a blue app which means a First Degree in January or February.
I have enjoyed serving the Lodge as Master this last year I feel that the peace and harmony between the brothers has been restored and the future of the Lodge is passing into good if not better hands. I will remain active as this is my lodge and I will do what ever it takes to keep it as one of the best lodges in the state.
