Fraternally,
Hal Bain
Senior Warden
The year is coming to a close and as I am not progressing in the line I wish to thank the lodge for allowing me to serve as your Junior Warden. It has been an educational enterprise. This is the first year we have established a Social Fund. I hope I have been able to organize it in a manner that will make it easier for future JW’s.
For the brethren that were at the October meeting, here is an update on the tax situation. As of the November meeting all 2004 taxes and penalties have been filed and paid. We must give thanks to those brothers that assisted in gathering the necessary information. Starting with our Treasurer, Jim Gable who furnished all his documents. These proved to be very helpful as there were some close of year (2004) necessary documents. Brothers Craig Schoonover, Ed Clarke, and Tommy Thomason all contributed to the search for the necessary papers. There has to be a special thanks to SW Hal Bain, who dedicated many hours to organizing the data, and entering it into the computer to provide the proper format and results. This exercise was necessary if we are to have the 2005 papers ready in a timely manner. Hal not only entered the 2004 data, but much of the 2003 data as continuity in references is a prime key for causing audits and filing correctly. A special thanks to Hal for taking not only the time to do the work, but extra time to provide me with some training and understanding of the complexities of the Treasurers job. A personal and special THANKS to brother Hal Bain.
In the book ‘The Ancient Engineers’ by L. Sprageu De Camp. He writes that under Ancient Roman rule the religious orders, in order to advance their own power, glory and wealth created a body of sacred writings. These writings expounded a fixed code of morals and tabus. The net result over time was that the meaning of credulity, they redefined as “faith”, and fanaticism as “zeal”. Respect for the law of cause and effect was condemned as “blind materialism”. This caused the scientific community of the time to apparently slow down in discovering many inventions that could have been developed earlier had they pursued much of the known scientific laws of the time.
The social structure of the world has come a long way, but in looking at our society today, the pendulum may have swung too far on the side of materialism. Credulity today is “wealth” and religious fanaticism is now “faith”. Viewed/written world news today is defined by one of these two disfunctions. When I look at Masonry I find that we in our own way are trying to build a bridge and show men that there is a better way. As we go about our daily business, we must remember that every act we undertake and is viewed by the public is reflecting on Masonry.
I want to thank the brethren for electing treasurer for 2006. I will try to do my best and get all the lodges books in order. As your Treasurer elect my first request is to modify the standard voucher form to be used for submitting expenses. The modification is to add on the form the budget item number relative to the expense. These new forms will be available via email or just by asking myself or the Secretary. The new form does not change the requirements for submitting a voucher, it is strictly an aid for keeping track of budget items.
Fraternally,
Ernie Castillo,
Junior Warden
As I look at the possibility of Master in 2007 the first thing that shows up bright and clear are the numbers "007". Quoting from one of 007's movies "Never say Never". How many tines did I say "I will not threepete".
When Greg Buschek, in response to a request From Master Luis Orozco for the Past Masters help in filling the line, said he would run for Master. I had the honor of raising Greg in Carson City and told him that if he did I would be proud to be his Senior Warden. Well it looks like that has happened.
It seems fitting that this trip to the East starts this time in the West. The first time I started in the South. The second time I started in the South but stayed for two terms. This time I start in the West balancing everything out.
I will work to the best of my ability in bringing peace and harmony to the Lodge. I will assist our Junior Warden in the refreshment part of his duties and what ever help he needs. I am looking forward to working with Greg and providing him with what ever assistance he may need. But most of all I want to bring the Lodge back to the vibrant condition it was in when I joined.
In closing remember "Shaken not Stirred"
Bill Malmstrom, PM
Senior Warden Elect.

TAX STATUS At our October meeting we were informed that certain 2004 tax forms had not been filed in a timely manner and were due. Due to the great effort by Bro. Hal Bain all our 2004 issues were filed by the requested date. We also received request for added forms and information during October from both the State and IRS. These request have been completed and mailed to the requesting agencies. ec.
Notices have been circulated to warn everyone that any call you receive or email asking you to call them back using area codes 809, 284 or 876 are bogus and will cause charges on your telephone bill. ec
