Those pictured on the front cover enjoyed a prime rib dinner, along with chicken and all the trimmings. We had some brothers that have not been here before along with a few brothers that have but could not make it this year. We heard from some brothers that have been silent before, all in all it was a very great night of fraternal intercourse.
At the November Stated Meeting we will elect the officers that will guide our Lodge next year. They have been working very hard on advance stations and are ready to pick up the flag and carry it. For the next three or four years we will have a first timer in the east, Or first timer for our lodge.
The elevator project is finally moving ahead. When the original building was built, the dining room was the first part of the complex to be built. When the building above was built the foundation was constructed on the outside of the basement. When they excavated for the elevator pit and lobby they found the foundation of the two story part of the building to be floating in mid air. After consulting with the architect, a design was approved that will support the two story part of the building on temporary steel beams while a new footing was constructed to support the second floor. This put the project back about a month and now we are looking to have every thing finished about mid December. One of the things that we are doing is to move all the electrical that is on the back side of the building and blocked by the city trash enclosure to the side of the building between the main electrical panel and the chimney.

Brethren -
Well here we are in November already and the holidays will soon be upon us. May we all take pleasure in this season and pray thanks for the blessings which we have enjoyed during the past year. Your officers are busy qualifying the lodge in all three degrees. We need additional assistance and cooperation during this time to get the teams set and this important task taken care of. Please, please, please, if you are part of a degree team, make every practice so we may move the lodge forward. Please also remember that the November Stated Meeting is election night, so your attendance would be most appreciated. Installation is set for Sunday, January 6th at 3:00PM. Place it on your calendars and come join us in celebrating another year @ Los Altos Lodge. Officers please note that there is a MANDITORY installation practice on Saturday, Jan. 5th @ 7PM. Please make sure you are in attendance. May you all have a happy and festive Thanksgiving season.

I thought you might enjoy part of a recent article originating in Massachusetts. I did...
“On July 30, 1733, 18 men gathered at the Bunch of Grapes Tavern on King Street in Boston and organized the first Masonic Lodge in North America. The fraternal society was based loosely on medieval stonemasons' guilds. Members pledged to be true to each other, to God, and to their king. However, a number of Masons — including George Washington, John Hancock, and Paul Revere — played major roles in the Revolution. Long associated with secret rituals and symbols, Freemasons are now more open about their mission of self-improvement and service to the community.
Even today, when Masons are more open about their activities and goals, the nature of Freemasonry remains shrouded in mystery. It developed, in part, out of stonemasons' guilds. By the seventeenth century, English gentlemen who had never practiced the craft of stonemasonry began to join the fraternity for social reasons. In time, the fraternity borrowed various regulations, tools, and mythology from the stonemasons to create a code of conduct and a system of morality.
Freemasonry's overarching allegory is the Biblical story of the building of King Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem. Through symbols, ceremonies, and lectures, Freemasonry teaches its members the tenets of "Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth." Following earlier stonemasons' customs of boarding in lodges located near their place of work, Freemasons organize themselves into membership "lodges" where they meet periodically for fraternal and social activities. “….
