Los Altos Lodge No. 712 Trestleboard Articles

June 2007

As The Sun Rises In The East

First I would like to thank all who have expressed their condolences on the passing of my mother. Mom was seven days short of her 95th birthday when she died on May 25th. Her memorial will be on June 2, 2007 which would have been her 95th birthday.

I’m writing this article on Monday May 28 which is Memorial Day Observance now. As I write this I am sad but happy that Mom is no longer suffering. But even more I reflect on what I have watched on the news coverage of this Memorial Day as countless people stop and pay tribute to loved ones who have given their lives in the name of our wonderful country. The Flag tribute that the Grand Worthy Patron has this year kind of says it all:

“Woven together by the Red, White and Blue, Fellow Americans are loyal and true. Remember those who sacrificed for the land of the Brave, That the Flag of our country may continue to wave”.

At our last temple board meeting Gunner Galsgaard reported that he and the architect, Buzz, had been to the City of Los Altos Building department and it looked like everything was in order and in about three weeks every thing would be approved. Construction will take at least six months so hopefully by installation time we will finally have the elevator. I know for sure the cooking staff is looking forward for this. It takes about a half an hour to carry the food down to the kitchen for our dinners. After the elevator project is finished the temple board will be looking at updating the kitchen.

Jim Gable is putting together the line for next year and has our two newest Master Masons in it. Sean Murphy and Tom Ellison will be Marshal and Junior Deacon respectively. Welcome, I know you’ll enjoy being an officer in our lodge.

Shaken not stirred in 2007,

Bill Malmstrom, P.M.
Master

The West Wind

My Brothers,

Here it is June already making it halfway through the year. What ever happened to those days when we were younger and a year (birthday to birthday, or Christmas to Christmas) was an eternity? Now they slip by at an ever increasing clip it seems. Who has been messing with the clocks.

You should all make every effort to be at June’s Stated Meeting. We will be having not one but two 3rd degree proficiencies. Both David Anderson and Tom Ellison will be giving it their all to get over this hurdle and open the doors for them to travel to other lodges and to have the ability to hold the top offices in the lodge. We should all turn out and support their efforts. Go Dave and Tom!!

By the time you read this Nan and I should be back from our vacation to Pennsylvania. I plan to visit several lodges while there, so keep an eye open in future Trestleboards as I share my experiences. It should be a GREAT trip.

That’s all I have from the west. I hope your June is spectacular.

Jim Gable, Senior Warden
