February 2008

FROM THE EAST.....

Here we go again. As Worshipful Master in 1986 and 22 years later in 2008, looking ahead, both Magnolia Park and Burbank Lodges are giving thoughts to sharing in meaningful activities and programs this year that will involve much camaraderie and social fun. Already, Wor. Marc Canterbury and Senior Warden Jeffrey Yates of Burbank Lodge have been discussing with me joint ventures both in and out of the lodge.

For now we need to build lodge attendance at all our Stated and Degree Meetings. At our Stated Meetings we will continue opening Lodge at 6:00 PM, Dinner at 6:15 PM, Reports at 7:15PM, which will include our wives and family, First and Second Degree Masons, and all others who wish to attend, and our business meeting (Master Masons only) at 7:30 PM. All others will retire to the dining room where there will be planned activities to provide interesting programs for them such as bingo, crafts, cake decorating, etc. So ladies, this is a special invitation to you to make it a point to attend our meetings.

I am asking that at our Stated and Degree Meetings the officers and members wear a suit or sport jacket and tie and at our lodge practices the attire will be casual, i.e. lodge shirts unless otherwise specified.

If you are planning on going on the Laughlin Trip on April 18, 19, and 20th please make your reservations early by calling Joy Pruett.

In addition, we would greatly appreciate your contacting the lodge to make reservations for all the dinners to be held in the coming year. Thank you for your cooperation.

Fraternally,
Don Johnstone, P.M.
Worshipful Master

Hello Ladies.....

My objective this year is to get all of you ladies more actively involved in our lodge on stated meeting nights by planning activities that all of us will enjoy. We can start off by having a bingo night, then branch out to various other activities such as old time movies, cake decorating, and any other ideas you can furnish.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you at our Valentines' Dinner. Our entertainment for the night will be the Alchemy Handbell Ensemble. They are fantastic so it should be a very enjoyable evening.

In Closing, Don and I wish you the very best in 2008.

Shirley Johnstone, Master's Wife
