Text Box: My dear Brethren, Happy 4th of July to all of you!

What a hectic half of the year we’ve had! Thanks to all of you for not only making our Lodge a beehive of activities but also for making those activities our rewards of ‘corn for nourishment, wine for refreshment and oil of joy’. My special thanks to Ws. Celso Fueconcillo, Bill Munda and Romy Aquino for their participation and support of the officers in many of our degree conferrals!

Despite the few challenges we have encountered in our Masonic Journey in 2003, there is an air of satisfaction and a general sense of harmony in our Temple. So it should be, my Brethren, for it had been otherwise, we would not have practiced our tenet of Brotherly Love and our virtue of Temperance. Practice them by the goodness of your heart in and out of the Lodge. Remember that admonition you received . . .  a few days ago, some months ago, or many years ago . . . ‘that on your becoming a Mason, you have become a better man’. Enough of the sermon, I think. Let’s move on.

Did everyone present enjoy our Fabulous ’50s Family Nite? I know my wife and I did! That was such a blast! If you were not able to attend, you missed out on one of the best and memorable events we have held to this date. DJ/DI Ponch Ruiz was again a hit with the ladies! Sis Mercy Perlas’ catering was again just superb! Let us thank our Chairman and Co-Chairman, Bros. Joey Aguilar, SD, and Michael Perlas, JD,  respectively, for a successful event. And to all those who attended and/or supported us in any way, the Lodge thanks you!

As you can see in our ‘Upcoming Events’ box on the lower right corner of this page, we have a string of activities designed to meet our fraternal, civic and human responsibilities or obligations as men and Masons. If you cannot be present at all of them, please select your choice/s and contact the Committee/s responsible to get involved.

The Family Picnic at The Masonic Homes in Covina is quite significant because it will mark the first time in several years that we will be holding an event there. During the dedication of the new facilities there in June 28, 2002, we were asked by the residents when we were coming back to have our annual picnic there again. “Next year!”, we all chorused and promised. On July 19, 2003, that promise will be fulfilled! The monetary proceeds will be donated to The Masonic Homes in Covina. Join us for a fun day and for a good cause rolled into one! Contact the Picnic Committee of Bros. Tony Soyao, Eric Lopez and Franklin Oria for details.

On July 27, 2003 (Yes, it’s a Sunday!), we will be honoring one of our own, Wor. Emmet Van Ness, a Past Master of our Lodge and one of the pioneering members of our Atwater Chapter of DeMolay, as he receives the Hiram Award for Masonic Year 2003. This gentleman of a Brother personifies what to be ‘joyful in life’ is all about: his ever-gregarious demeanor, his contagious laughter and his warm handshake. I know he is a caring man particularly of those of our Brethren who are sick and are confined in their homes or in hospices somewhere. Wor. Emmet, thanks for being our Ambassador-at-large in your mission to visit with our health-challenged Brethren wherever they may be. Contact Bro. Steven Venadas for details of event.

We will be holding our ‘Camping under the Stars’ at Camp...
