First and most important, a reminder that if you are aware of a child 18 years and younger with orthopedic, spinal, cleft lip or palate, or burns problems, please let them know about the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which treats such problems with state of the art techniques and at no cost to the family. One of the 22 Hospitals in the US, Canada, and Mexico is here in Los Angeles. Contact the hospital at 213–388–3151, or contact any Shriner for information and assistance. Thank you.
Al Malaikah Shriners welcomed 32 new Shriners into its membership on October 3 at a special ceremonial at the Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles. Everyone present was offered a tour of this special facility that continually changes children's lives for the better at no cost to the family. If you are interested in finding out about joining the Shrine, please contact Dave Chernik, any of the many Shriners in our Lodge, or attend some Shrine events and see what we are doing.
Speaking of events, as we head into the final months of the year, there are many different and fun activities happening with the Al Malaikah Shriners. Everyone, Shriners, Masons, family and friends are invited to attend. Shriners can bring someone new with them to introduce them to the Shrine.

The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is a social and charitable organization, which maintains the Scottish Rite Memorial Fund, and also supports local charitable and educational funding programs. California Scottish Rite Masons support a wide range of charitable and civic activities. At every well–ordered meeting or degree the "box of fraternal assistance" is still passed to fund the Almoner′s charge to assist the needy, much as our ancient brethren did. The Bodies are a patriotic group who support our Constitution with an annual observance. Many support or sponsor Flag Day on or near June 14 each year. Many Valleys have programs to recognize area law enforcement officers, teachers and students, sometimes with monetary awards. They support the Blue Lodges and encourage closer bonds with the York Rite and Shrine. In recent years there has been renewed effort to include families and non–Masonic friends in special events.
The Scottish Rite has adopted the plight of children with language learning disorders as its philanthropy, and has established a program for addressing these problems in children. 170 Rite Care (Childhood Language Centers) programs have been established in States that comprise the Southern Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite.
