Some 200 persons from allover the state attended our 72nd Installation on January 21. They were impressed that no Past Masters were installed into the line!
Don Rickabaugh, P.M., of Dana R. Weller Lodge #765, served as Host. Past Masters Frank olds, Howard Coffman, Sr., Ralph Simmons, and Jerry Crosby, Sr. served as Installing Officer, Master of Ceremonies, Chaplain, and Vocalist. Two Family Education programs were presented. One covered the Origins of Masonry and included slides of the remains of King Solomon's Temple taken by Brother Richard Kramer. The second described the use of living trusts and the purpose of the Lodge's Memorial Fund. A Homecoming evening attracted many Brothers who had not been to Lodge in some time and featured a refresher on certain words and signs, exemplification of the Middle Chamber Lecture, a discussion of the condition of the Lodge and of Masonry in general, and demonstration of the newly approved short form closing. The Lodge's informal association with Bethel #129 was renewed. The Daughters assisted our chef, Brother Leroy Hayes, in preparing and serving our dinners. Past Masters Don Green and Nimrod Conn and Brothers omar Need, Bill Teuteberg, Ed Hiler, George Kaplan and Gerry Bradley were selected as "Secret Dads". The Lodge provided modest financial support to the Bethel for a reception honoring Mrs. Delma Davis, an adult leader in California (and the wife of our Brother Bob Davis and daughter of George Allen, P.M.). Three fathers of Bethel members applied for membership in Golden Rule Lodge. The Lodge also provided financial support to Miss Jennifer Conwell, daugh- ter of Brother Dennis Conwell, who was appointed Grand Worthy Advisor of Rainbow Girls in California.
The Hiram Award was presented to Brother Gerry Bradley, recognizing his many services to the Lodge, especially his important work as Head Candidates Coach. Thirty-two men participated in our second annual Golf Tournament, organized by Brother Larry Townsley. It was won by the team of Wayne Robinson, P.M., and three Laymen. One Layman applied to join the Lodge. The Lodge was honored by the visit of Worshipful Brother David L. Wells, Past Master of Woodford Lodge of London, England, who witnessed the conferral of the Third Degree upon Brother Jack Morash. The Third Degree for Brother Kirk Zimmer was enhanced by the AAHMES Chanters from Oakland, who joined our own "Golden Tones" in providing music for the ceremony. Fifty-eight members, ladies and children travelled to Sonora in the Gold Country to confer the Third Degree on Brother Tom MacKenzie in the historic Columbia Temple. Brother Nelson Japlit, in service with the U.S. Navy, received his Third Degree by courtesy of Pusan Lodge No. 1675 in Korea.
