Open installation ceremonies were held on January 21, Bro. Marcel Diner was installed Worshipful Master by Past Master Don Cross as Installing Officer, Past Master Donald R. Kidder as Master of Ceremornes and Past Master Howard J . Coffman as installing Chaplin. Brothers who distinguished themselves during the year. Brother Richard Law was appointed Associated Grand Guardian of the State of California 's Jobs Daughters, on September 28, a reception was held in his honor. Past Master Worshipful Brother Tom Baker was presented the Dad Advisor of the year award by the Pacific DeMolay Association for increasing the San Jose Chapter Order of DeMolay by 22 members in one year and this Chapter receiving the Most Improved Chapter Award. At the 136th Annual Communication of Grand Lodge, Worshipful Brother R. Frank Olds was appointed Senior Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge of California and Hawaii.
Brother Charles B. Hillis and Brother James Boccardo being Masons in good standing for fifty years received the Golden Veteran's Award. Keeping with tradition our annual pilgrimage to Columbia, Calif. was held on May 18, it was well attended and the historical Masonic Temple is always an inspiration to all who visit. Again this year, due to the efforts of the Lodge Officers, members and many hard working committeemen, Golden Rule received the Grand Master's Achievement Award presented by the Most Worshipful Master John Driskell, during Grand Lodge Communications on October 14.
Twenty-six Past Masters attended the annual banquet on October 21, where 15 members were announced as eligible for a 25 year pin, most were present. Our Annual Widow's Night program was held on October 28, where twenty-three of our sweethearts were in attendance together with many members of the Lodge, a gourmet dinner was served and entertainment was provided by the San Jose Men's Choir. On November 18, Brother T.G. Johnson became the eighth recipient of Lodge's coveted Hiram Award, for his many years of dedicated service to the Lodge on the Sunshine Committee, again this year, as its Chairperson. He was joined by his lovely wife, members of his family, friends and many Lodge Brothers. At the December 2, stated meeting Brother Harold Hagaman was elected to serve as Master of the Lodge for 1986. Twenty-three degrees were conferred; at year end membership was 582.
