Past Masters: A Closer Look

1975-ARTHUR A. BRUNS JR.

January 20, 1975 marked the date of the 56th Annual Installation of Officers which was a.lso the first installation for Golden Rule in the new Temple. Wor. Harold Carrell served as installing officer and Wor. Donald Kidder as Master of Cer. Bro. Ralph Simmons was the new appointee to the line. Events during the year included hosting all Masonic youth groups which exemplified work characteristic of their organization. a San Jose DeMolay #1 presented their Second Degree on Mar 17th. b Rainbow Assemblies (SJ #5, BV #147, WG #199) presented an open meeting. Job's Daughters Bethel #129 presented their majority degree on Nov 24th. Volcano Lodge #56 hosted Golden Rule on its annual visitation on May 17th. This lodge does not have electricity in the lodge room as it is illuminated by coal lamps. The visitation to this historic lodge represented a departure from the traditional trips which were always held at Columbia Temple. All who attended enjoyed themselves greatly and the novelty of going to a different area met with great success. The first annual Widow's Night was held on Nov 10th, and our lodge was privileged to host 34 widows for dinner and entertainment in their honor. A beautiful experience and tradition was started as these ladies were very appreciative of being remembered. Bro. Paul Nelson served as chairman and entertainment was provided by "Kidder & Sons". Bro. Donald G. Cross was appointed Jr. Steward to fill a vacancy in the line in September. Other activities included a visitation to Palo Alto Lodge on May 27th; a Giants baseball game on Aug 2nd, and a Christmas Party on Dec 22nd. Contributions to the Memorial Fund which was originated in 1974 were numerous. This fund will prove to be very beneficial to our Lodge in the future. The year, 1975, was filled with many activities and great fellowship. The only year that can top it is 1976, 1977, 1978, etc. That's the way it is with Golden Rule Lodge.
