Past Masters: A Closer Look

1937-BRUNO L. SCHULZ

Officers were installed on Jan. II, 1937, by Charles D. Griffel, P.M., and Bro. Oren P. Holaday, P.M. at open ceremonies. On Feb. 1 Past Masters' aprons were ordered for those P.M.'s who did not have one, and at the March stated meeting it was voted to purchase trowels for presentation to each candidate on becoming a Master Mason. Officers and members of Golden Rule again visited the Masonic Home at Decoto on May 28 and the Second Degree of Masonry was conferred on Bro. Richard Slack. Bro. John Alfred Fisher was elected to serve as Master of this lodge in 1938 at our stated meeting of Dec. 6. Worshipful Bruno passes along an item he titled " A Call for Help" as one of the amusing highlights of his year: ."Francis Drake Lodge (South San Francisco) had been invited to confer a Third Degree upon one of our candidates. During a portion of the Second Section, our candidate became too realistic. The master tried to arouse him but to no avail. With near panic in his voice, he loudly asked if there was a doctor in the house. The candidate, sensing the situation, responded. With a sigh of relief on the Master's part, all ended well."
