Did you know that someone
could open a credit card business name account for Torrance
University,
without any problem? Credit Card Company’s are so desperate
for business they do not do the proper checking of these
applications. Our Lodge has taken steps to see that this will
not occur at our Lodge.
Also be aware that there is
Credit Card fraud on individual cards. A person receives a
call from the supposedly company you use, they tell you
someone is trying to use your card and they want to verify the
fraud. They convince you they have taken action to stop it,
however they need your code on the back of the card to verify
this. Of course you are happy to comply, because the have
probably saved you a lot of money.
This is completely a “Scam”
credit card Company’s do not work this way, in fact they tell
you not to give out any information.
The supposed caller uses your
security code along with your number (which they get from a
purchase you made on the internet) to purchase items, which
they in turn sell or return to the merchant.
If this happens to you, call
your credit company, inform them what has happened then call
the police and report it.
Please be very careful if you
purchase anything via the Internet, also be sure to get your
receipt from the stores if you use a credit card, it will save
you a major headache if it is used illegally.
The Lodge has removed
Officers addresses for that same reason in the Trestle Board.
In this day and age we have to be very careful what info the
Lodge can give out.
Check your dues receipt; it
should say good until December 31st 2006 if not
send in your check A.S.A.P.
