FROM THE WEST - July 2005
Brethren:
The glue that binds the family of Freemasonry together is our conduct towards each other and towards those outside of the Lodge. We willingly obligate ourselves with a promise to respect and help our neighbor and to tolerate his viewpoint, religious beliefs and political opinions. The rituals that accompany our induction and progress as membebrs of our ancient and honorable fraternity are intended to emphasize moral principals and to remind us of our commitment to practice honesty, integrity and trustworthiness in our daily lives. We hope by our good actions to influence others to follow our example and help to make the world a better place for all people.
When we seek to understand the meaning of our rituals and honor our commitments to them we are making Freemasonry a way of life that is relevant in today's world. The practice of Masonic principles by each of us, as stated above, is the most important component of our organization but we cannot know or understand those principles without the effort to become better informed Masons. Come to the Lodge on Wednesday nights following the week of the Stated Meeting for our interesting group discussions that will help explain the metaphoric intent of our rituals and symbols.
