My Dear Masonic Family:
Thank you for electing me to be Master of Hollywood Lodge #355 in 2008. I am both humbled and honored to be able to serve you, and I am eager to fulfill the trust you have reposed in me.
I've written many articles on my interpretation of Masonic teachings, and have shared with you many of my thoughts and musings along my journey from West to East. I hope my anecdotes have spurred new thoughts and ideas, and rekindled old memories and understandings. I will continue to share my thoughts on Masonry throughout my year.
Today, though, I'd like to congratulate and thank the brethren who will be serving with me in 2008. You've elected Bro. Russell Jaeger as Senior Warden, Bro. Art Melendez as Junior Warden, Wor. John Champion as Treasurer and Wor. Jerry Shubb as Secretary.
I'm happy to announce that I've appointed Bro. Steve Mahr as Senior Deacon, Bro. Ken Kolchier as Junior Deacon, Bro. Ron Sindelar as Marshal, Bro. Michael Pearce as Chaplain, Bro. Tom Scott as Organist and Wor. Norm Hoffman as Tiler.
Joining us as Officers at Large are Wor. Jack Levy, Wor. Fred West, Bro. Spyros Pappas, and Bro. Aaron Cohen
I'm looking forward to a productive and meaningful year with these gentlemen. Please join us the evening of Saturday, December 15th, for our Installation Ceremony.
Symbolically, a Master in Masonry represents mankind in his old age, reflecting with joy on a life well-spent. It is the duty of the Master to offer the wisdom necessary to draw the designs for work to be done. Both symbolically and practically, it is therefore all the more critical for me, as a young Master, to learn from the experiences of my brethren, to listen to wise counsel, and then execute my designs wisely and prudently. With your assistance, I will endeavor to have Hollywood Lodge shine the light of Masonry even brighter throughout our community, and our lives.
Fraternally,
Dave Sylvester
Master elect
