FROM THE WEST

Brethren:

Our Lodge has both younger and older members, from different corners of the community, employed in a variety of occupations, and all having different expectations about what Lodge should be and do for each of us. I view the diversity of backgrounds that each of us brings into the Lodge as contributing to our vitality and success.

The programs of the Lodge need to appeal to the expectations of our members and their families. Meeting the challenge that is posed by our diversity is what hones our ability to satisfy the needs of our members. This year, your officers have met together several times to discuss and plan social events for this year and that will appeal to a broad range of our members because the involvement of our wives and families in the social activities of the Lodge has always been an attribute of our success.

During our meetings we have also addressed actions we should take to keep our membership strong and be active in the community with our Child ID Program. Last month resulting from our discussions, the Lodge hosted a dinner social to reach out to our inactive brothers that have not passed beyond their initial Entered Apprentice Degree. The Masonic symbolism discussions on Wednesday evening of the week after each Stated Meeting were conceived during our initial planning meetings prior to the start of this Masonic year.

Also, regarding the Lodge Child ID Program, for those of you who were not available to assist Brother Johnny Johnson at the event in Kester Park on March 19th, there is another Child ID event scheduled on Saturday, May 7th from 8 am to 11 am at the Devonshire Division Police Station during their annual Pancake Breakfast.

Fraternally Yours,
