From the East

June 2004

Brethren:

On April 4th, several of the officers and brethren attended the annual Masonic Services Bureau breakfast honoring the Most Worshipful Howard D. Kirkpatrick, Grand Master of the State of California. It was not only a time to renew and refresh interest in the Service Bureau, but also a time to renew acquaintances with those brethren who we have not seen for some time, and also those with whom I had attended the various Warden's retreats with.

I am sorry to say that I have been out of town on business for two weeks and missed some degree work but I understand our two proficient Wardens performed excellently, and with four second degrees on April 29th.

We have had two more first degrees May 20th and on May 13th we raised Bro. Paul Kayne, on May 27th we raised Bro. Henry Stephan.

Thank you to Brothers Matt Matheson and Johnny Johnson for providing the KIDS ID Program for the Big Sunday City Event on May 2nd.

Thanks again to Bro. Craig Honig, a very recently raised brother who admirably chaired our successful miniature golf event, with lunch after at Acapulco. We all had a great time.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Memorial Day and weekend, and as many as could displayed the Stars and Stripes in salute to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms, and also to support our men and women in the armed services who are presently in harms way. Also, remember that June 6th is the sixtieth anniversary of the Normandy Invasion which liberated Europe and threw down one of the most detested dictators of all time.

May 27th was the Renaissance Faire, and I hope all who attended had a great time. Thank you James Bayhylle.

We presently have scheduled on June 10th, two first degrees, and Hollywood West Valley is hosting the Officer's School June 24th.

Thank you again to Spyros Pappas, Wor. Marco Romey and his lady Star, and to Bro. Paul Kayne for helping set up for the May Stated Meeting. At the May Stated Meeting we read petitions for two new candidates and an affiliation, and voted on two others to receive the degrees of Masonry and two affiliations. We are growing, Masonry is once again on the rise at our Lodge.

Ron and Jean Marie, I know you for decent kind and caring people, and you have my full support.

In May we laid to rest our brother Marshall Jacobson. Irene, remember, you are still part of our Masonic family. We also will miss him.
