From the East
January 2005
Brethren:
I would like to thank the Officers and Committee Chairman who have agreed to serve with me in 2005 and I would like also to thank them for working with me on the Social Program for 2005. A special thanks to Spyros Pappas and Tasi for allowing us to meet in their home to plan this program.
What we try to do with this program is to make it attractive to Brethren of all ages. There are five Movie Nights this year, three of them will have a twist and those are the ones in March, May and July. The standards are back; Golf, Mini Golf and Bowling. The Car Rally is back by popular demand. If you missed the first one, you've got to make this one. The Picnic this year will be called a Luau; it will be held in the Valley and will have a more extensive menu and will start later and hopefully last longer. The tour of the Reagan Library is back with an opportunity to visit Air Force One. There are other regulars on the Social Calender where the name has been changed to make it more enticing or the name has remained the same but the content or presentation has been jazzed up.
Bus Trips for the Lodge are not unusual, but at the end of my year we have planned a Cruise. There will be a flyer available at the Installation explaining everything. There is also a weekend trip to Santa Inez Wine Country planned for May and flyers will also be available for this at the Installation.
There are some changes that can be made to help us as a Fraternity, but I believe these are best discussed in a tiled meeting. If the time and opportunity presents itself, I will speak about them at the January Stated Meeting and will definetly make a presentation at the February Stated Meeting.
There are two events scheduled for January... both of which are open to everyone. The first is the Installation of Officers on Saturday, January 8th, 2005 at 7:30 pm and is shows both the ritual side and the social side of Masonry. The second is the Movie Night on Sunday, January 30th, 2005 and it shows the casual fellowship side of Masonry. Therefore, I request that you go and ask your friends and relatives to join you at these events and let them see what THIS Masonic Lodge is all about.
Fraternally,
Stanley J. Higgins, PM
