January 2004
Brethren
It is January and I hope everyone had a happy and safe new year. It is the beginning of a new year for us all, and for Hollywood-West Valley.
I must thank the brethren again for electing me to serve as Master of this storied Lodge. I do look with pride on our past, but we are an amalgam of many lodges and the latest incarnation has made us one entity which is, Hollywood-West Valley, and is our future. I will be Master, but not the Master. I look at my year as a caretaker of this Lodge, and when my year is up, I turn the care of the Lodge to another and become again, a worker for our Lodge.
The success of any Masters year can partially be measured by the success of his installation. I hope we had a great one. I am surely looking forward to it at this time.
We will have a variety of activities for this year, some will be new and different. We should, I believe always try new things, things that we will look forward to and will appeal to all age groups, that will allow us to grow into the new century. Please do not hesitate to make reccommendations for programs, and I will be only too happy to take them into consideration. I will always have an open ear to new ideas.
I would also like to thank my advisory committee for all their help in getting me ready to assume this position, Ted Schuman, Jerry Shubb, Rudy Bauer, Will Fishkin, Bob RIcci, and those others who have volunteered advice, and which has been welcomed.
Fraternally,
Master
