FROM THE EAST
February 2006

Dear Brothers and Ladies:

First of all, I would again like to thank everyone who came to the Installation and shared a fantastically successful start of the New Masonic Year for our Lodge. I will always treasure my escort into the Oriental Chair by Wor. Burt Haas who was a last minute stand-in for Wor. Rudy Bauer who had undergone an angioplasty three days before the Installation. I also want to thank all of the Brethren and ladies who helped make our dining hall into a magical inspiration for this year’s theme of “Spreading the Cement of Brotherly Love”. The food was fabulous, thanks to Brother Aaron Shubb.

In my acceptance remarks, I presented my vision for perpetuating the legacy of our distinguished Lodge: 1.) Our Lodge shall become the sponsor of a DeMolay chapter for young men. 2.) Masonic Education of our members shall be just as important as acquiring new members because we are only a social organization if we fail to keep our Brethren informed about our Craft. and 3.) Our Lodge must continue to be an extension of our members and their families because that is the most unique and important attribute of our Lodge.

Our first Stated Meeting dinner is Feb. 2nd. Dinner reservations are mandatory. We are adopting a fair and consistent process to insure that dinner reservations with your choice of entrée are made on time by all members before each Stated Dinner. There will be a sign up sheet at each Stated Meeting for the following month’s dinner. If you do not sign up you must call and make a reservation. A new telephone number for reserving dinners is shown on the second page of the “Chips”. It connects directly to the Building Manager’s message center. If you do not make a reservation, you will not be served until all people on the reservation list have been served. You will pay for the dinner at the dinner host table where you will get a colored ticket for the entrée you ordered. If you make a reservation and do not attend you will be required to pay the cost of the dinner and you may not apply the dinner cost to a subsequent dinner at a later date. These rules will be enforced.

I predict that this year’s social and Masonic activities will provide more fun and enjoyment for our members and their families than any other previous year. As with all previous years, we will try our best to keep our scheduled activities unchanged. If changes are necessary, we will use E-mail to expediently communicate those changes. February’s activities are as follows: 1.) Paintball; Saturday, February 12th (see the Chips front page) 2.) Movie Night and Dinner; Sunday, February 26th (see the ad for the “Pink Panther” hosted by Wor. Rudy Bauer)

Fraternally yours,

Marco Romey, PM
