FROM THE EAST - August 2005

Brethren:

I apologize to the Ladies for the mix-up in the entertainment that was scheduled for the July meeting. Hopefully we can make up for it at the August meeting. THANK YOU Spyros, for helping set up the Dining Room on Wednesday Evening. My other two usual helpers Star and Marco had some personal things to take care of that really took precedence. I know Aaron Shubb puts out great Stated Meetings Dinners and you all want to be there, but we do have to know you're coming by the Monday before Stated Meeting so we have enough food and places to sit. At the July Stated Meeting I am not sure every one got a place to sit because the some helpers may have eaten in the Kitchen and we did run out of Chicken. I set more tables this month than last month even though I didn't know who was coming.

Thanks to George Fayle and Bob Gross for running the Golf Outing on June 12, and though the turn out was small we had a great time. A blind draw was used to select the pairs so I don't know how Bob and George got together as a pair, but they shot a 31 and took first place. Art and Ernie and Jack and Stan - both pairs - shot 36's and tied for last place. George furnished the golf balls that we all used for the tournament and we will analyze them to see if taht had anything to do with their winning other than they're just better players than we are.

At our July Stated Meeting Wor. Will Fishkin, P.M. who filled in for Wor. Rudy Bauer, P.M. who filled in for Wor. Inaki Villarin, P.M. presented Scholarship Awards to Rodrigo Carbonel and Alexandria Lanos; Wor. Marco Romey, P.M. to Joe Lin; and Wor. Burt Haaz, P.M. to Brenda Montes. I would like to thank the committee and the presenters for their work on behalf of the Lodge.

I am looking forward to seeing you all at the Reagan Presendential Library on August 20th, Spyros Pappas, Chairman of this event, by his hard work has assured us of a great turn-out but there is still room for more and you don't want to miss it.

Fraternally yours,

Stanley J. Higgins, PM
