FROM THE EAST - April 2005
Brethren:
So much has happened since I took office at the beginning of the year that for this month's article I will try catching up in thanking and acknowledging those who helped with the previous Stated Meeting Dinners. I would like to thank Star and Jean Marie for filling in for Iris at the February dinner, checking people in. Ethel would like to thank Star for helping with the decorations and I would like to thank Spyros for helping set up. After the meeting there were many that helped and we would like to thank them all.
Bowling was our February event and as mentioned last month, Rudy and Joann did an excellent job putting it together, but what I didn't mention were the winners. They were; Joann Bauer for the ladies, Joseph Foo for the men, Joann Bauer and Aaron Shubb for the couples, and... for the "how come my ball always ends up in the gutter" award, winners were Eadie Fayle for the ladies and Burt and Carol Haaz for the couples.
For the March Stated Meeting Dinner, we were glad to see Iris back checking people in. Again thank you Star and Marco for helping with decorations and setting up. Our hosts for the dinner were Eadie and George Fayle and Ethel and I thank you for your help. We would like to thank those that helped clean up afterwards; Joan Shubb, Star, Rivian, Barbara Gross and others. (If Ethel forgot you, she's sorry.)
If you have attended the last two Stated Meeting Dinners you know the meals have been outstanding thanks to Aaron Shubb. Now, to keep up this fine quality, Aaron and I need your help. Please, please, please make a reservation as soon as possible so we have enough food and enough places to sit. Because we will be using "round tables" for the rest of the year, it is important that we set up enough tables. You just don't slip in an extra couple of seats at a table.
This month we are bringing back the Car Rally with some interesting twists. It will be held on Sunday, April 24th and the chairman is David Sylvester ably asisted by James Bayhylle. Also in April we have the Grand Master's Breakfast at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. We have reserved a table for 10 and I am looking forward to seeing who the nine other brethren are that will be joining me that morning. Following the breakfast at 2:00 pm, the Grand Master will do a cornerstone laying at the Midnight Mission. For further information, call me.
For the May event we do not have a lot of lead time. It is the dinner and show at Medieval Times and will be held on Saturday, May 14th.
Penny Schuman will be hosting the April Stated Meeting Dinner and requests that the Ladies bring or wear their favorite hat to the dinner.
Fraternally yours,
Stanley J. Higgins, PM
