A "Top o' the Mornin" and a "Bottom o' the Afternoon" Brethren,
It's hard to believe that March is already upon us! I wish to thank all of the brethren who came to the February Stated Meeting to discuss the Lodge business and I am grateful that the business of the day was handled in the proper fraternal manner. I am looking forward to getting this issue past us and I am personally hoping that we will be able to stay put, but I will definitely take all information appropriately.
This month will be the official visit of our Grand Lodge Inspector, Worshipful Chris Holmes. Please remember to dress accordingly with a coat and tie. We also have a "Three Lodge BBQ," a Movie Night and a Masonic Information Night. Also of note, Brother Bob Turner announced that the "Spirit of Hiram" play will be held at the Pasadena Scottish Cathedral on March 28th at 8 pm. This is for Master Masons only! Their website is pasadenascottishrite.org.
I would also like to take this opportunity to give special thanks and recognition to several Brothers who saw a Brother in need (me) and stepped up to help. With the craziness in the Woodland Hills area, traffic was insane and the Worshipful Master, the Senior Warden and the Brothers who would usually be there to help were all stuck in traffic. I was all alone in making the final preparations. A couple of Brothers who happened to live close, as I do arrived and without a word just started helping. This is what makes Freemasonry so great! As I thanked each Brother, the response was the same, "It's my pleasure Brother."
Visiting Brother Alan Penner arrived early and just started setting tables with me. Brother Alan Bertik came next, then Brother Dale Jacobs followed by Brother Marc Brauer. Worshipful Stan Higgins joined in too. The pace was fast and furious and, as anyone who ate can tell, the chicken was a little dry and the potatoes were a bit too "al dente", but none of the Brethren complained but instead smiled and enjoyed the company of their ladies. You guys are all the best!
It is my sincerest wish to present the best of meal quality but I am still learning the ropes and I am thankful for your tolerance. I wish to thank you all for all of your kind words. I would like to mention however, that several brothers called in reservations and did not show. Please remember that the Lodge purchases food based on your reservations and when you do not show up, the Lodge cannot return the food for their money back. Please call and reserve for dinner - but if you do - please show up.
Fraternally,
Arthur Melendez
Junior Warden
