FROM THE SOUTH
February 2007

Well I have been talking about community, asking for suggestions on how we can become more involved in our local community. So far we have had lots of suggestions. This one is a very simple one that is going to be easy to implement. We will be collecting food donations to give to a local food pantry. Here is a brief bio:

West Valley Food Pantry

The West Valley Food Pantry is a coalition of nine congregations located in the west San Fernando Valley providing emergency food to the needy and homeless of that area. The Pantry is a member of the San Fernando Valley Interfaith Council Food Pantry Coalition.

Founded by Prince of Peace Church in 1985, the Pantry has become one of the largest food pantries in the San Fernando Valley providing 12,683 children and 11,393 adults, some 24,076 people, 220,824 meals in 1998. Every effort is made to assure that these meals provide a balanced and nutritious diet.

We will be collecting food at all Thursday meetings the rest of the year. Then monthly we will be dropping them off to the pantry. Hopefully we can get every ones support in this worthy endeavor.

Fraternally,

Aaron Shubb
