FROM THE EAST June 2009
Greetings Ladies and Brethren, I offer you greetings from the Oriental Chair. Well, another month has come and gone here at Hollywood Lodge. Amidst some last minute schedule changes, vacations, and a here today, gone tomorrow, back with a vengeance two days later cold, we have managed to confer two first degrees, and one second degree. I congratulate not only our newly obligated brethren, but also us as a lodge. We are working hard and enjoying the fruits of our labors! Speaking of fruits, that brings me to the “refreshment and repose” portion of my message... In honor of Cinco de Mayo, at the Stated Meeting Dinner, we enjoyed a little “south of the border” cuisine. The men plumped up and readied themselves for a festive evening of administrative fun, while the ladies enjoyed a performance by El Camino Real High School’s show choir, “The Camerata.” Which, for those of you who don’t know, was the vocal jazz ensemble I performed with when I was in high school! Looking ahead at the social calendar, we have an exciting couple of months coming up. On June 20th, we will be gathering for our Table Lodge event. At which, we will be honoring Worshipful Chris Holme, Senior Grand Deacon and all around nice guy. Please check the ad for more information! Also, please mark your calendars for the July events! On July 18th we will be having our annual picnic, and on July 25th we will be going to see the L.A. Dodgers play! As one final note, I would be remiss if I did not recognize Worshipful Ted Schuman. Ted has carved out a delicious piece of property in Bellingham, Washington where he and his lovely wife Penny will be going to enjoy the good life! To say you will be missed, would be an understatement. Thank you so much for everything you have done for us over the years. May the best of your past, be the worst of your future. Thank you all, Russell M. Jaeger |
