FROM THE EAST

February 2009

Brethren and Ladies,

I extend to you my most heart felt greetings from the East.

Due to the timing of the printing of these newsletters and the timing of certain events throughout the year, I am forced to choose between two options... I can offer late comments on events that happened a month ago or later, or I can turn on my crystal ball and comment on events which, as of the writing of my article, haven’t yet happened. In the interest of giving you my most sincere feedback, I will be choosing the first option.

Therefore, I would first of all like to thank you all for turning out in such great numbers to the Annual Installation of Officers. I know we all worked extremely hard to make it an unforgettable evening. Keep your eyes peeled for photos of the event to hit the bulletin board soon!

Secondly, thank you for making the Stated Meeting Dinner a success this month. Although there were about twenty of you who reserved dinners and weren’t able to make it (I know these things sometimes happen), I hope those of you who did come out had as good a time celebrating The King’s birthday as I did. With the exception of the “Salad Dressing Debacle of ‘09” (which was nobody’s fault but my own), it was, in my opinion, a pleasure to have our dinners served to us this month. And, upon a quick polling of the attendees, it seems as though having the Job’s Daughters serving dinner was a welcomed change for the rest of you as well. So, provided we obtain the lodge’s support, we will continue to ask them back!

For those of you who were unable to attend the dinner, you missed out on the new, “Member of the Month Award.” Each month we will be recognizing one person (male or female) who goes the extra mile to help out the lodge and his/her brethren. I would at this time like to give one last little quick shout out to the first recipient of said award, Aaron Cohen... Thank you again for all you do for the lodge, my brother. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

A final thanks for those of you in attendance on Thursday night, I appreciate your bearing with the length of this first meeting. I will be working hard to stay organized and keep the meetings running as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Thank you very much,
