What is Freemasonry ?

Freemasonry is the oldest, largest and most prestigious fraternal organization in the world. We are a civic club, a charitable institution and a fraternity – all rolled into one. As a civic club, we do a lot of community projects – local and statewide – that help to improve our communities. As a major charity, we give almost $2 Million away every day. But – most importantly – we are a fraternity of men doing good things for each other by endeavoring to bring good men of good morals and ethics together in our community.

The Tools of a Mason

The discovery of Masonic emblems in the foundation steps to the pedestal of the Egyptian obelisk at Alexandria – known as Cleopatra's Needle – is accepted by many as strong evidence that Freemasonry existed at least a century or more before Christ.

Cleopatra's Needle is an ancient Egyptian obelisk built in Alexandria, Egypt, which contains hidden Masonic symbols.  The 69-foot high solid stone monument was a gift from Egypt to the United States in the 1870's. Erected in Central Park during 1880, it is one of 9 obelisks (2 in Heliopolis and, 7 in Karnak), which were erected originally by the Egyptian Pharaoh, Tuthmosis III, in about 12 BCE

Volumes of material have been written about Freemasonry, not to mention the extensive historical research and effort undertaken to investigate and attempt to determine its true origins. Yet, to many, it remains a mystery.

Freemasonry is not an insurance or benefit society. It is not organized for profit. However, the charitable services rendered by Masons are beyond measure. We exist solely to help children, improve our communities through philanthropic support and to better ourselves by applying ethical and educational principles. We teach good men to learn, grow and become better men through the principles of Brotherly Love and the Golden Rule.

You will find much information within this website to enlighten you, the reader, in what it means to become a Mason and a member of the world’s greatest fraternity.
