Summer has come and gone and we’ve been very active. We’ve had lots of social activities and some community events that have all been a success. It is our hope that you are getting more out of YOUR Lodge! In early August, our Child ID Program was part of our Community Outreach Program at the Taste in San Pedro. Very well received by the community and the Chamber of Commerce Officials, we photographed, fingerprinted and distributed Child Safety Kits to the parents of several hundred children. We also talked a lot about Masonry and our Lodge and have had a number of people make further inquiries about our Lodge since then. The word is getting out that Masonry is a good organization, promotes community improvement and is an organization worth belonging to!
We also want you to collect those pull-tabs on aluminum cans for our Second Annual Make-A-Difference Month in October. You can do your part by saving them and dropping them off at the Lodge or calling us to come pick them up from you. And don’t forget to start going through your closets and attics to find those no-longer-wanted items for the benefit of our Midnight Mission Clothing Drive. Give us a call so we can arrange a pick-up for you. As you will be able to tell from our Degree conferral calendar, we have had many quality men applying for membership in our Lodge this year. This Fall we are promoting our second Membership Drive, to help our Lodge continue to grow. We have been challenged to bring in five (5) more men who seek to apply for membership in our Lodge before 31 December. In order to meet this target, we have several events to which you will be able to bring your non-member friends and family members to show them what Masonry is about. I personally challenge each of you to bring a friend to each event you attend at the Lodge and show him the other quality men who are already members of our great Fraternity. Lastly, we would like to congratulate our San Pedro Job’s Daughters Ritual Competition Team, who competed and again won First Place at Grand Bethel in June. So outstanding was their performance, they were asked to compete at the International Supreme Bethel in August. Taking First and Second Place titles at the Ritual Competition for the entire world, our girls have once again proven that the people from San Pedro are the best! We are making great strides in fulfilling our theme for this year – Making Masonry Relevant for the 21st Century: Man, Family, Community. We hope that you’ll come to support your Lodge as we continue to move forward in our successes. We look forward to seeing you at Lodge often. As we say in Africa, “Karibu ujamaa!” Shawn Donohugh, P.M., Worshipful Master
