For over 150 years Tehama Lodge No. 3, in downtown Sacramento, has been the gathering place for good men to meet and work at improving themselves and their community.  “Grand Old Tehama” still meets today, as it has since 1850, continuing the traditions and work of the worlds oldest and largest fraternity.

The California Gold Rush spurred many settlers and prospectors to move out west in the mid 1800’s. This gave rise to the towns and birth to the cities that would become California.  Among these travelers were Freemasons, whom soon sought each other out and formed Lodges in their respective towns in order to pool their collective intellect and resources to help support and guide their fledgling communities.

Tehama Lodge No. 3 (Or Connecticut Lodge No. 75 as it was then known) was among the original three Masonic Lodges in California and soon cooperated with the other existing lodges, in the territory that had only recently become the State of California, in forming the Grand Lodge of California.

Tehama Lodge and it’s members have left an indelible mark on our city and on our state. Many Tehama Masons have been involved in the formation and development of Sacramento and California. Tehama continues to support its community through education, social and charitable works.
