Brother Rey S. Cruz

         Brother Rey S. Cruz was born and raised in Cainta, Rizal, Philippines in 04 July 1948.  He graduated High School in Cainta Catholic High School.  He is married to his lovely wife Cely Fernandez Cruz who was a grade school teacher and blessed with one son, Glen F. Cruz.

    In 13 September 1968 when he was 18, he joined the U.S. Navy.  He successfully completed his 20 years of faithful service in 30 November 1988.  After retirement, he unselfishly devoted another 15 years of service at Nutrition Management Department, Naval Medical Center San Diego.  He recently received his 35 years Service Award for his Faithful Service to the Department of the United States Navy and the United States Government.

     As a Master Mason, he was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on 25 February 1982 at Claude H. Morrison Lodge Number 747.  In 26 May 1984, he joined the Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree.  He served there as Tiler for three years and a Banquet Master for one year.  He also became a member of Al Bahr Shriners in 09 June 1984 where he helped raise funds for Our Shriners Hospital (Islander's Club).

    In 22 November 1988, he became a member of the Knights of Columbus Council Number 9904, National City California.  He was a member of the Board of Trustees for three years and a key player in feeding and serving the runaway teenagers at Downtown San Diego.

    In 2004, he was nominated as the Mason of the year  for participating in every lodge project and for possessing a great compassion for all brothers in need and exhibiting a forward looking spirit that our members look up to.
