In November,
2009, we will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the Chartering of
Arcadia Lodge No. 278. It will be a gala event with the Grand Master and his
corps of Grand Lodge Officers attending. It is already marked on the agenda of
the current Senior Grand Warden, Right Worshipful, Ken Nagel who will be the
Grand Master in 2009. He will be installed in October, 2009, and his visit to
our Lodge will be among the first on his agenda of visits in his term.
Now, what does
that have to do with you? If you are interested in history and want to help
write up a concise history of our Lodge to give to the guests attending our
celebration event, then you are the one we need. Of course, the event is about
18 months off, but, it may take that much time to do the job. If you are
interested in becoming a member of the “History Committee” and this exciting
event, please call and leave your name and phone number on my home answering
machine. I will schedule a meeting of our historians and we will get started.

Celebrating a 125th
anniversary of our Lodge may be confusing to a lot of members since the number
of the original Arcadia Lodge which was Chartered in1923, was No. 547. The
current No.278 is a result of a number of consolidations. Normally, during a
consolidation, the name may change but the lowest number is carried on. It all
started with Southern California Lodge No. 278 which was Chartered
in 1884 and the original Charter has moved along with each consolidation.
