MASTER¡¯S MESSAGE
Brethren:
A properly organized Lodge operates as a unit where
every member who is able to, contributes as much as he can to help the Lodge
run in an orderly manner. There are many functions of that orderly manner. Some
of them are as follows:
1. Help to increase the Lodge membership by seeking new
members in the proper manner remembering that a candidate must seek membership
of his own free will and accord.
Advise the candidate of the virtues and advantages of becoming a
Freemason. Seek help from a member who is knowledgeable in Freemasonry if your
knowledge is limited.
2. Be
willing to investigate a candidate. Investigating a candidate gives you the
opportunity to learn more about the candidate, his background, and his family.
3.
Be willing to coach a
candidate. This can be a very rewarding experience, to be able to watch a
candidate get his degree and to know that your part in helping him with his
proficiency, enabled him to advance.
4. Attend meetings when degrees are being conferred. As a
candidate, what would your impression be of the Lodge when there are very few
members on the sidelines?
5. Attend Lodge meetings. Your attendance is important as
there are, at times, when items are presented which are very critical to the
operation of the Lodge.
6. Attend the Lodge degree practice sessions. Practices
are very informal and a lot can be learned about the degree work by attending.
You can assist by being the candidate or filling in for an officer who is not
present.
7. Attend the Lodge functions such as the monthly
dinners. There is time before and
after the dinner for getting to know Lodge members, their spouses, and their
invited friends.
These are just a few of the items that
Lodge members can participate in and help the Lodge run in an orderly manner.
YOUR
COOPERATION IS NEEDED!
Fraternally,
