VACATION HOME  CHECK (One of the many services of the S.T.A.R. office).

Going on vacation?  The El Dorado Sheriff's Department provides a vacation home check service to residents of the county who request it.  This service is performed  by members of the Sheriff's S.T.A.R. auxiliary (Sheriff's Team of Active Retirees).

A team of two STARs, uniformed and in officially marked cars, while out on patrol, make vacation checks in which they walk around the house checking for open or unlocked doors, broken screens and windows or anything that seems suspicious.  In the event they find something that doesn't look just right, the STAR will contact the Responsible Party designated by the homeowner or, in some situations (e.g. an open or unlocked door), the Sheriff's Central Dispatch who will dispatch a Deputy.  The Deputy will come to the residence, complete the check and provide whatever assistance is needed.

The Home Vacation Check is a very worthwhile service and is highly regarded within the Sheriff's Department and especially by those residents who have utilized the service -  which is provided free of charge to residents of El Dorado County.

Call the S.T.A.R. office at 1-530-621-7545 to request this service.  Requests must be received seven business days prior to departure.
