2006: Our 136th Year
October
From the East:
I really want to thank Ken Fowler for another very successful Peace Officers Recognition Dinner. The dinner was fabulous and the program both interesting and gratifying. The law enforcement agencies represented at these events really look forward to them. It gives them an opportunity to publicly recognize their personnel for jobs well done.
Thanks again Ken and crew a grand evening.
Here's something to put on your calendars for December. On December 6th, King David's Lodge and Corona Chapter, OES, will co-host a Holiday Dinner for all members of all Masonic bodies in our area. This will be a gala event with entertainment. It will be an opportunity to socialize with people you haven't seen in a long time. Put it on your calendar: December 6, 2006, Holiday Dinner.
Fraternally;
David Chesebro PM, Master
From the West:
I am pleased to report that our most recent Peace Officers' Appreciation dinner was the best ever. We had 112 total persons for dinner.
On Sept. 19th I was contacted by a reporter for the Crambian/Tribune who requested a list of the Honorees and a few words regarding the program.
Fraternally;
Ken Fowler PM, Senior Warden

Gentlemen and others. If you have ever been in our library you know that there is an extensive assortment of reading materials. Our books are available to all for check out and return when done. We have a checkout form next to the door, that you almost trip over when you enter or leave so it's not to hard to miss. One of our brothers donated a beautiful edition of Coils Masonic Encyclopedia to the library. If you have ever looked at buying one of these they are approximately $70... so it's not an inexpensive purchase or donation. To make a long story short... the Encyclopedia is missing... not signed out and no one knows anything about it. We would appreciate the return of the book or at least call and let us know you have it and we will sign the check out list for you.
We will have to vote on it at Grand Lodge, but the recommended Per Capita Tax for next year is going to be $29... which will make our Dues payment tentatively $84. This will be finalized at Grand Lodge.
Next, at our last stated meeting, we had the pleasure of voting on the application of two (2) gentlemen to take the degrees in Masonry. On the first vote, there was a black ball inserted in the ballot box. So a second vote on each applicant was held with the black ball again being placed for one of the two men. Nos, this is not a problem as far as using the power of the black ball. The problem is that the person voting the black ball could/should have contacted the Master prior to the stated meeting and stated his objection. Per section 26230 of the CMC, this would have allowed an extra 60 days for the Master to investigate further the reason for the objection and possibly correct it for the objector. The person who objected, could, if satisfied with the investigation withdraw the objection. This would then have come back to the lodge for voting. As it stands now, the person who was black balled must wait at least a year before he can re-apply for admission. Every person deserves the right to correct a possible mistake or misinformation... Please use the Master for objection instead of the black ball.
Finally, as you are aware, we have a special event where dinner reservations are required, such as the just past Law Enforcement Dinner, if you have made a reservation and fail to show up with out any notice, you will be receiving a letter asking that you send your payment for the reserved meal. We have to pay the caterer for your meal... whether you eat it or not.
Ok, that's all for this month...
John H. Hooley PM
