From the East

Brethren;

Happy New Year!

I am looking forward to this Masonic Year. We have a great Line of Officers who have lots of ideas to improve our Lodge. My goal as Master this year is to increase the involvement of our membership in our Lodge activities. I encourage my Brothers to attend these events and support our Lodge and the Officers. If any Brother has an idea or suggestion that would help me in achieving my goal, please let me know.

The Annual Installation of Officers is scheduled for Wednesday, January 5th at 6:30 P.M. We will have a Dessert ONLY Pot Luck reception after the ceremony in the dining room. Please just bring a dessert - thanks. The Installation is open to family and friends.

The Stated Meeting will be on Wednesday, January 12th. A Pot Luck dinner will begin at 5:30 P.M. with the Stated Meeting at 6:30 P.M.

The District Officers Association will be held on Monday, January 17th at 7:00 P.M. The location will be Atascadero Lodge. All Master Masons are welcome to attend.

The Grand Master requested us to include in the Trestleboard this month the following article:

"Every year more than 500,000 people die from cancer in the U.S. and many researchers and specialists believe up to 60% of those deaths can be prevented if Americans slightly adapt their lifestyles.

By Your Side, Grand Master Bill Bray's 2010-2011 project, aims to raise awareness about oncology so as a part of February, National Cancer Prevention Month, join your Lodge for a healthy meal with delicious anti- carcinogenic food and learn more about cancer prevention during the February Stated Meeting!

Don't miss this event!"

I am looking to seeing everyone at the Stated Meeting!

Fraternally,

Bill Mills, Master- Elect

From the South

I would like to thank the lodge for electing me Junior Warden for the ensuing Masonic Year. It is an honor, not lightly taken, since it affects one of the most important Masonic duties, EATING.

Every year more than 500,000 people die from cancer in the U.S. and many researchers and specialists believe up to 60% of those deaths can be prevented if Americans slightly adapt their lifestyles.

By Your Side, Grand Master Bill Bray’s 2010-2011 project, aims to raise awareness about oncology so as a part of February, National Cancer Prevention Month, join the lodge for a healthy meal with delicious anti-carcinogenic food and learn more about cancer prevention during the February stated Meeting.

I would also like to thank Worshipful Bill Mills, for his outstanding assistance as Officers Coach.

From the Secretary

Our membership total is 143 and 80 members are over 70 years old.  We have 6 over 90 and the average age of our Lodge members is 68 years.  Since I'm 78, I guess I fit in.  One hundred and forty years ago, when our Lodge first formed, members with ages like we have now would all have been in bed or in wheel chairs.  But most of these old members today are active and working at something.   This is truly amazing and I am proud to be among such an amazing group.  To all, I hope you had a Merry Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year.  Does your dues card say it's good 'til 31 December 2011?
