From The West

NOVEMBER 2000

November is the time for election of officers for the ensuing Masonic Year. It is also the Stated Meeting at which the ballots for conslidation will be tallied. May I have the envelope, please...

Regardless of the upcoming changes, we can all look forward to a fulfilling year. A year of changes, to be sure. One of joys and sorrows, loss and gain.

We plan to raise one more Master Mason this year and hope for support in this from all of you.

Have a happy Thanksgiving and thank you.

Faternally,
Marc Mesmer
Senior Warden

JULY 2000

This is an important time for Semper Virens Lodge and for Masonfy in general in this area. I strongly urge every Brother to attend the next stated meeting and add your input. We will be continuing the discussion regarding the proposed consolidation of Lodges. It is imperative that every Brother's concerns be addressed in this process.

Also, we have added a history of the Eureka Masonic Temple, complete with numerous historical photographs, to our web site at:

Thanks for your continued support.

Faternally,
Marc Mesmer

APRIL 2000

Wow! That last 2nd Degree really has me seeing double! So much so that we are inspired to put on a Double Second Degree on April 22nd, at (of course) Two o'clock. Hope to see at least two sideliners for this one. Thanks to all those who made the last one such a success!

DECEMBER 1999

As the sun sets in the west to close this year, I am filled with gratitude for all the Brothers who have made this a great year.

As I look to the sun rising in the East, I am filled with anticipation for the new year. We have lots to do with new candidates, a full social calendar and a Masonic education program I hope you will all enjoy. Any suggestions for community activites are welcomed.

With as few candidates as we have had applying for the Degrees this last year, it is important to come out and support the new Lodge Brothers who have the courage and commitment to take the next step in Masonry. A Temple is built by suppoorting the newly carved stones with the stones that have been tried and found true. This holds for our Lodge also.

Faternally,
James Borges

FEBRUARY 1999

We had a great time passing Brother Gene Wilson to the Degree of Fellocraft mason. We had a nice turnout from Eel River Lodge #147, Humboldt #79 and Arcata #106, who filled in the vacancies left by our own Lodge Brothers.

APRIL 1998

The turnout was great and fun was had by all at our Entered Apprentice Night at Chapala Cafe. I even met a member who I had never seen in my five years in the Lodge. The Secretary tells me that we have about 160 members yet I have met no more than 30. Would each of you please take the time to visit us at one Stated Meeting this year? Just one, that's all I ask. It would be nice to meet you and introduce you to our newest members. We would like your input on the future of your Lodge.

Faternally,
Eric Peterson
Senior Warden
